Dunno
maybe I'm not
cut out to be a star
but words are music dancing in
my mind

Each step
is like a dance
performed alone onstage
without an audience that I
can see

But still
the music calls
and I must dance, even
if I am the only dancer
(so far)

Who knows?
Maybe though my
step is weak and clumsy
it may embolden someone else
to try.

Re: Writing Prompts #27

I just found this blog, and though I find
the content different than I would expect
I gratefully accept the challenge to
write something ending in the word connect.

I don't know if my wandering mind
will make a poem fine, without defect,
but still enjoy the challenge put me, to
write something ending in the word connect.

and if you, please, will not spank my behind
I'll share my poem, if it be correct
to speak of what I write to such as you
that otherwise would not think to connect

with such as me, a poet who would grind
out words however badly they affect
my standing in your eyes, still I must do
whatever I can, trying to connect.

Re: 2010 Average Salaries for Writers and Editors

How do I find a writing job? I'm really happy with Feedly actually, but I honestly want to find a way to pay them, to give me a feeling of security. There's never any guarantee of business success of course, or the company or product folding for hundreds of reasons. But hopefully it's less likely than being swatted away like it's annoying fly, which is how it feels like they treated google reader.

Re: Poetry Writing Tips

i use to write poems at the age of 10 and up, i remember a friend found one of my paper with many poems on it. he would give it back and read it out loud to his friends. they made fun of me forever, repeating lines that was cliche. i stop after writing tons of good poems for such a young age. now im 21 and today i just decided to start writing again. today i wrote a very very good poem at work. at one point i went into the bathroom on the clock and was writing as fast as i could. the content was coming naturally. i got home and cleaned it up a bit and typed it out. im very satisfied with the finial product. tomorrow im going to go get me a little booklet to carry around. my only problem is rhyming, i find my self just typing run on sentences unless i actually try to do a rhyming scheme....and i cant spell very well. but its ok, im the only one reading them, because im still embarrassed for some reason, i doubt its the one example when i was a kid, its just how i am.

great article, i was listening to bob dylan when my poem came to me. dylan called himself a poet, and i agree he is very inspirational. there is a few songs that are like magic in my ears.

(not direct quote from memory)

Shiva Con Fractil ácido

A square,

A simple-looking, piece of paper; it seemed.

The state of mis-understanding of it,

is amusing in my present knowledge.

On my tongue it settled, and seeped rapidly,

The cycle has started in my system,

Am i infinite? Am i immortal? or am i dead?

The broom evolves into a rattle snake,

and battles my sanity.

Yellow spiders are falling onto me, and my phobia is forgotten,

while i play with them; study them.

I turn to my amiga, and i watch her eat a flower,

and i was focused on the fact of watching another person be out of their own body.

outside of reality, and into a mental state of emotions and irrational decisions.

I dance with the tiger who lays purring calmly beside me on my bed.

I stumble to the mirror. I am the tiger. i am no longer human.

I am outside of my own thoughts. my own body.

Music, sounds beautiful, but meaningless simultaneously.

Am I Laughing? Crying? i think i might be angry, but I'm not sure.

The room is damp with water. How? Did i do that?

Who am i? well, momentarily that is irrelevant.

The walls mix into a colourful, detailed, explosion of my thoughts, and creations.

Somehow reflected, and i am in awe. but i cannot speak. or can i speak?

I start to gain control of my surroundings; and reality.

the spiders that i studied. were no where to be seen.

The snake, lost the battle against my half contious dreams.

it returned once again to an ordinary broom.

The flower remained eaten.

and I returned to my body, and my mind.

I am finally awake. but silent.

I want to review every aspect of my inner venture.

I realize the extent the happening.

I Laugh.

Can we do it again?

i'm also a technical writer, mostly for complex systems operation and maintenance instructions and i am currently searching for a way to improve my pricing method in such a way that by knowing the general details from a job offer (such as the scope, the number of machine stations, the technologies involved) i will be able to estimate the number of pages needed , thus sending a more accurate price offer.

do you know any moduls/general rules/method/application that can help?

Re: Short Story Writing Project: What is a Short Story?

My favourite short story is called 'BOO!'. There would be a community building with open office space, computers, printers, and all the office equipment you might possibly need or want. This building would also have a TV/radio/movie/sound studio for producing multimedia materials and short movies. I see it having two stories, wings, an indoor swimming pool and basketball court, showers, restrooms, sauna, jacuzzi, performance stage, cafe and grill, library, courtyard and lounging area with a grand piano and comfortable sofas and tables and chairs.

The community would have gers/yurts or other kinds of alternate housing or huts for people to sleep in and have a place to call their own. These would be fairly cheap to build (under $5000) and only take 2-3 days to build. They probably wouldn't have electricity or plumbing.

There would also be several community gardens to grow food and flowers in that everyone who lived in the community spent some hours every week tending. A commitment of two hours a day to running the community would be required to be a resident. This would involve shopping, cooking and clean up after meals, the usual housekeeping of community spaces, caring for animals and shared vehicles, some office work, etc.

As this would be primarily a productive community, residents would also be required to work on projects to benefit the community for 3-4 hours every day. Other time could be spent on a balance of teaching and studying. The ideal would be for people to choose their own schedules, activities and pace for a flexible daily schedule that could be adjusted as needed or desired.

A raised running track would encircle the perimeter of the community. There would be some dorm-style housing available also around the edges of the community. Ideally, the property would be located on a creek and a lake or by the sea, and there would be kayaks, rowboats, sailboats, speed boats, pontoons, etc. for different kinds of boating. It would be nice to have an apple orchard or orange grove nearby (depending on climate), stables, corrals and fields for horses, goats and cows. Of course, there would be dogs and cats, and probably chickens and rabbits, too.

It would be good to keep bees, grow different kinds of berries and melons, as well as vegetables and many kinds of fruit and nut trees. The community could operate a conference and retreat center, a cafe for residents and neighbors, and perhaps a hostel. There would be arrangements for guests.

And there could be shared celebrations and spiritual gatherings according to the desire of the people. I'd like to have drumming and dancing circles, singing, and performances by people who were talented and could play various instruments. I'd like to include musicians, artists, performers, dancers, healers, techies, teachers, writers, and other well-balanced people with a varied mix of skills, experience, and abilities.

It'd be more interesting if there could be a lot of diversity among the people in the community and an international group of people. Personally, I'd like to see several ESL teachers who could develop materials together in team projects.

Re: Four Ways to Publish Your Poetry

i agree with you danial
